Thanks to cloud-cover most of today, our three open ski trails held up great, and skiing was still good even this afternoon, and should be through around noon tomorrow. We won't be able to regroom the trails due to a few grassy spots that our snowmobiles can't go over without damaging the turf, but ski conditions were still awesome this afternoon, and should still be quite good for tomorrow--especially for experienced skiers or skiers who have skied here before. (New/beginner skiers probably should wait until the next good snowstorm). Rentals will again not be available, unfortunately.
A big thanks to all of our volunteer board members who rolled and groomed trails, staffed the rental shop Friday, and moved snow while I was half a world away for a work conference with my wife. Our nonprofit Nordic Center needs dedicated volunteers to keep this local ski operation running, and we are always looking for more help. If you have the time and interest, please contact us via our 'volunteer' tab--you can earn a discounted (up to free) season pass for next year!
We have quite a warm up over the next several days, which unfortunately will once again melt away a lot of our snow base. I've been living here on and off since the mid-70s, and this has to be one of the weirdest winters I've seen! Still, it’s looking like a decent chance for colder temperatures and more snow for next weekend and beyond, so fingers crossed that we get more snow and can enjoy the groomed trails for more than a couple days at a time at some point this winter!
